CHAPTER ONE:  BORDER BUSTER TOOLKIT

BROWSING TOOLS

Use two browsers. For backup and variety, download and use the two major browsers, Navigator and Explorer. Netscape International at http://home.netscape.com/intl/home.html offers 14 international versions of the Netscape surfing software. The site includes Australian, French, German, Japanese, Spanish, and United Kingdom editions of the surf software. Microsoft offers a free copy of Internet Explorer at http://www.microsoft.com/worldwide/. The site provides special downloads and computer information for over 50 countries from Argentina to Zimbabwe.

Asian Flew. If you read Chinese, Japanese, or Korean, try out AltaVista Language Options. Using the web navigation tool, you can type Chinese, Japanese, Korean and other language characters directly into the search box, and scan for webpages in these languages.

Get Real. A must-have program for global webnauts is RealPlayer International, a free Internet audio and video player. Written in eight languages including French, German, Japanese and Spanish, the program allows a user to tune in to web-based business briefings, multimedia presentations, and radio shows.

Follow the Guide. After you download the RealPlayer, check out RealGuide at http://realguide.real.com/. Updated daily, the site is a directory of web-based audio and video programming in seven categories including live events, business, and news.

Fly with Acrobat. Many websites post reports and information in PDF format, an image-rich text and graphic display format. To view such reports, you need special software, the Acrobat Reader, which may be downloaded for free at http://www.adobe.com/prodindex/acrobat/readstep.html.
